One final nap with grandpa

Tomorrow little Miss Nova will be joining Hunter in Canada. Hunter has told us that his Canadian home is absolutely wonderful and they are willing to open their hearts and home to another one of our puppies. Nova and Hunter are the two most similar pups we have - and how special it's going to be to have them living under one roof again! Nova had a big day today, getting her pre-boarder crossing check up, rabies shot, shopping for a new collar & leash and then a trip to my office. When she got home she had to take one last nap with her grandpa.

Lock down

This has been a bad week to be a puppy at our house. Sunday I sprayed the gravel around our shop with sterilant. To ensure the babies don't get sick by either picking up the chemicals on their paws and licking them; or by eating straw, etc. that was sprayed with the chemical. So they've been safe, but not very happy about the situation. We've had some pretty warm days around here and a bit of sunshine, so now all the kids are wound up beyond belief!! Anyone coming to our house this week needs to BEWARE ~ WILD PUPPIES LIVE HERE!!! :)

Monty goes to the meeting

Tonight was our monthly Kennel Club meeting which dogs are invited to attend. Seeing Monty has only been in a vehicle once, back when he was 6 weeks old and traveled to have his hearing test - but never since; nor has he ever met a dog that doesn't have spots, it was his turn to go on an adventure. The ride up was a bit shaky, he whined a bit but luckily had company on the back seat, one of Pam's Whippets went with us too. When we arrived at the meeting location we practiced walking on a leash (he's very athletic and was able to get some spectacular jumps in the air), then headed in the meeting room. Seeing Monty has always been the quite one in the group, I expected him to be shy and even timid with all the strangers and strange dogs. What a wonderful surprise when he never showed an ounce of being scared, timid or shy! He LOVED everyone and everything. His tail was just a wagging the entire time. He met lots of friendly people, men and women; as well as a Beagle named Abby, another whippet, a papillion named Jazz, and one REALLY HUGE Doberman. Monty acted as if he'd been meeting stangers every day of his life. We received many complements reguarding his lovely temperment and what a charming young man he is. Good boy Monty!

Indy & Dixie hit the snow

After visiting 'grandmas' house, these two lucky dogs got to head up to the mountains for some fun with their pop. Luckily he found someone to pull his truck out after getting stuck 'off roading' in all this fun white stuff!

One big happy family!

It's now official, Indy has himself a "little sister". Faith/Pink from here on out will be called Dixie. Dennis is obviously doing a great job with both of these liver spots, as both are very happy and friendly Dals; and they both look great.

While visiting both dogs were not too thrilled that 'Grandma' trimmed their nails, but she then made up for it by handing out treats.

If your ever in the Milton-Freewater, Oregon area keep your eyes out for this well known group making their rounds.

Faith gets a new home

Tonight we had a wonderful surprise, Dennis (Indy's owner) has fallen in love with Faith and has decided to make her a permanent part of their home. Apparently the bachelor pad enjoys a girls touch!

We are looking forward to seeing Dennis, Indy and Faith next Sunday to make everything final and to capture a photo of this happy new family.

Faith your a very lucky girl!!

Monster's Inc Patrol

While we are out of town, one of our neighbor girls has agreed to care for the remaining puppies at our home. Nancy will be feeding and playing with Nova, Sky, Tordan and Monty twice a day for the next week. We've got our fingers crossed that the kids behave themselves and don't cause too much trouble for Nancy. Poor Nancy probably doesn't have a clue as to how full her hands will be with this rowdy group!

Faith heads out for a sleepover

We will be heading west for a week long set of dog shows on the 15th. Originally Hunter was going to get to hang out with his brother while we were gone, but seeing he's now headed to Canada to meet his new parents - Faith got to fill his spot. Indy always loved the little puppies, so hopefully he will be happy to have a house guest for the next couple of weeks. This household full of men are going to have their hands full with this sassy little girl! Good luck guys. :)

Sky goes to class

Adrian and I took Bow & Ti to handling class in Walla Walla today, and just for the experience Sky got to tag along. She had a ton of fun and got to meet lots of new people. She started off a little shy but then realized it was just one big dog party! After we worked with the two boys, Sky got her turn at trying to 'strut her stuff' - I stacked her, then we jogged around the ring and did a 'down and back'. Those watching agreed that although her front feet were a bit high now and then (she started off with quite the prance), she moves very nice and is a beautiful girl. I can't wait until she grows up and we can start hitting the ring together. I'm hoping we'll be able to make it to Nationals again this year, I think she has a shot at doing as well or maybe even better than Willow did last year!

Names

Everyone is growing up, yet we still have 5 pups at the house so we've decided it's time to give them 'real' names. Of course, each pup has their registered name, but so far they haven't had a 'call' name.

Blue is now Sky
Red is now Nova
Pink is now Faith
Yellow is now Monty
Green is for now called 'Africa' as there is a chance she may be moving to South Africa.

First Snow

Today the puppies got to experience snow for the first time, they clearly enjoyed it!

Blue gets re-tested

When we did this litter's hearing tests at 6 weeks old, the machine acted up when we tried to do Blue's test. The audiologist said "passed but questionable", so to be sure - we took Blue to NW Vet Specialists and had her re-tested by someone else, with more reliable equipment. Blue passed with flying colors! She's definitely bi-lateral. We were very thankful for these results as Blue is one of the nicest puppies in the litter and will make a beautiful show dog. Blue is still available to a serious show home - please contact us for more info if interested.

Purple goes home

Miss Purple headed off to her new home in Vancouver, WA today. She will get to live with another pretty Dal who is black spotted and about 8 years old. Hopefully she is welcomed into their pack with open arms. Purple was the quietest pup of this litter and should be pretty easy to get along with. We'll be looking forward to getting photos and updates from Purple and Jim as she grows up.

Final Week

This is a big week, all of the 'girl homes' have made their picks except the very last person who is still trying to decide. Friday the 30th the first puppy will be going to their new home, and then most of the others will be leaving over the weekend and following week. Everyone will be greatly missed, but the pups are ready... they need their own people so they can start learning like little sponges!

BAER Hearing Results

It's been so busy around here I haven't had a chance to make the big announcement.... all the babies have bi-lateral hearing accept little Red girl who is a uni (deaf in one ear). Red will make a great pet for someone and they will likely never notice that she's deaf in the one ear; you sure can't tell right now, she's full of herself!

Sunshine!

Today it was finally sunny and warm enough for the babies to get to make a trip outside. For their first trip they only got their x-pen in the front yard, but we are hoping this week we will have more days were they will get to try out the big pen out back (20x20 grassed dog kennel). Today they got to be out front seeing that's where I was working on painting the outside of our house ~ I wanted to keep an eye on them. They had several visitors, as nothing attracts the neighbors like spotted babies playing in the front yard!

Purple, Liver Girl

Purple has been the smallest girl since birth, although she's within an ounce or two of the others now.
